* Paul Freedman Discusses "American Cuisine" at Scarsdale Women's Club

On December 11, 2019, at 7:30 pm, Yale University Professor and Bronx-River-Books-favorite, Paul Freedman, will read, sign, and discuss his new book American Cuisine and How It Got This Way at the Scarsdale Women’s Club, 37 Drake Road, Scarsdale. This is an off-site event (NOT at the bookstore), but we will be there to enjoy Paul's presentation and provide books.

For years, American Cuisine was derided by critics as consisting of hot dogs, processed food and hamburgers. But more recently, we have been described as the United States of arugula.  Just what is American cuisine today?

Paul Freedman, the Chester D. Tripp Professor of History at Yale, takes on that question and more in American Cuisine Paul, the author of the bestselling Ten Restaurants that Changed America, is a specialist on the history of food, and has extensive personal experience with the cuisine that we all seek out here in the New York area.  Celebrity Chef Lidia Bastianich says "This is a brilliant book -- extensive and detailed -- with in-depth research about the chronological journey of American cuisine from the pioneers to the present."

This event is sponsored by the Yale Westchester Alumni Association, the Scarsdale Women’s Club, and the Scarsdale Public Library.  Admission is FREE and the event will be open to the public.  To register for the event, please visit the library website https://calendar.scarsdalelibrary.org/event/6060325.
